Spring Flower Renewal

This is just a quick post since it’s Finals Week, and I still have too much grading to do. However, I wanted to share the beauty I’ve seen recently. I also want to say I’m grateful that in this state the parks have remained open during during the COVID lockdown. I was talking to some of my online students about the situations in their states, and parks are closed there. Not to get into politics, but the ability to get into nature and experience the sights and smells of spring is always rejuvenating for me. There also seems to be a profusion of flowers this year, as if Mother Nature knows we need the revival.

Jacob’s Ladder
Dogwood
Backlit Dogwood
Butterweed
Wild Geranium
Mayapple. (And a black dot off to the left that means I need to clean the camera sensor!)
Wild Ginger. This was the first time I’ve ever looked inside the flower. They’re often unseen because they lie close to the ground under the leaves. Apparently they’re pollinated by beetles instead of flying insects.
I have no idea what this flower is, and I don’t recall seeing it before. Cool little wasp, though.
