School has been online for four weeks now, campus is mostly deserted, and I spent some time last evening wandering around the grounds. I felt like I was on the set of some post-apocalyptic movie — “I Am Legend” keeps coming to mind. Obviously in four weeks not much has really changed, but I will say I’ve never appreciated the maintenance crew so much before. There were branches down from a recent storm, some trash here and there, and the squirrels and probably the rabbits were enjoying the tall grass. Fortunately, there are lots of bulbs planted in the flower beds, and they can pretty much take care of themselves, so there was plenty of beauty amongst the emptiness.

We missed our daffodils this spring. We came back home too late to see them. We did get to enjoy the tulips and now the bearded iris.

Too bad about the daffodils. Our irises haven’t bloomed yet, but I’m looking forward to that.
